HK Launch Party
KALEIDOSCOPE ASIA Issue #3

March 24th marked yet another successful collaboration between Arthub and KALEIDOSCOPE. During the Art Basel and Art Central fairs last month, the two organizations launched the third edition of KALEIDOSCOPE ASIA.

Follow the hypnotic haze and glow of the new issue’s cover image to discover our MAIN THEME section, Club State of Mind, dedicated to nightlife and club culture in Asia as a platform for self-expression and rebellion.

The Cocktail party celebrating the publication’s most recent edition was hosted at THE GARDEN by Le Baron, in Upper House‘s beautiful outdoor location. With co-host Ann Marie Scichili of Value Retail China, Arthub and KALEIDOSCOPE worked with Le Baron for the DJ set and club-like party atmosphere.

The event saw artist interventions by Chen Wei and Miao Ying. As well as being the featured cover artist for the third issue, Chen created wearable LED pins for Hong Kong partygoers. All night attendees were in hot pursuit of the much coveted special edition artwork!

Guests received a stimulating welcome from Miao – whose looped video works were projected at the entrance of the venue. Soothing sounds of Lionel Richie from the artist’s work Is it me you’re looking for? faded behind them as invitees ascended the stairs into THE GARDEN by Le Baron. Keep an eye out on Arthub’s Screening program, where we will be featuring Miao Ying’s works later this month. The Screening will be coupled with an artist interview taking an in-depth look at the “chinternet” and the artist’s views on network cultures and digital technologies behind the Great Firewall.
