Film by Artist, a non-profit program inviting contemporary artists to make short films, aims at introducing artistic concepts and languages from diverse contemporary artists to a much broader audience through the media of short movies. These short films not only explore the possibilities of creating linkages between the concept of “video work” in the context of contemporary art and the idea of “movie” in the wider realm of cultural industry, but also provide artists with a working platform that is differentiated from the current exhibition system in the art world. Film by Artist, thus, effectively stimulates the creative energy within the field of contemporary art by introducing alternative tastes and inspirations.

Film by Artist was established in 2016. It is presented by Beijing Yishujia Culture Diffusion Limited.
