Commercial Break in NYC
The Nuit Blanche Festival in New York is presenting Commercial Break on the 1st of October, 2011, as part of the Bring to Light free nighttime public festival in Brooklyn.
The festival invites emerging and established artists to make site-specific installations of light, sound, performance and projection art, the event creates an immersive spectacle for thousands of visitors to re-imagine public space and civic life. Bring to Light will transform streets, parks and the industrial waterfront of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, set against dramatic views of the Manhattan skyline. Bring to Light will illuminate Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the same night as ‘nuit blanche’ events in cities across the world, including Toronto, Brussels and Paris.
This international network of nighttime art events is an innovative platform for artists working in new and traditional media to activate a unique canvas of streets, parks, warehouses and shoreline. In its second year, Bring to Light is NYC’s signature citywide nuit blanche, with a roster of artists including Rita Ackermann, Chakaia Booker, Jeremy Blake, Richard Serra and Commercial Break.

Artists invited by Arthub Asia to the program include: Heman Chong, Jennifer Wen Ma, Lu Yang, The Propeller Group, Ruangrupa, Yi Zhou, Zhou Xiaohu, Xu Tan, Tintin Wulia, Cevdet Erek, Huang Kui, Hu Jieming.
Arthub Asia’s Defne Ayas and Davide Quadrio teamed up with curator Neville Wakefield on this project as content providers.
