Prince Claus Awards
Time: December 12th 2013, 16:00 (GMT +1:00)
Hosted by: Prince Claus Foundation, Netherlands
As a continued sign of partnership between Arthub Asia and the Prince Claus Foundation, Arthub’s Davide Quadrio has been invited to this year’s annual conference in the Netherlands, as a moderator for the salon program on visual arts that will take place Thursday, December 12th in Amsterdam. The program includes participation from Aukje Dekker (Eddie the Eagle Museum), and Naema Tahi, in addition to Naiza Khan and Christopher Cozier, two of this year’s finalists for the Prince Claus Award.
On Wednesday December 11th, HRH Prince Constantijn will present the Principal Prince Claus Award posthumously to winner Ahmed Fouad Negm at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. Presented annually by the Prince Claus Foundation, The Prince Claus Award honors an individual or organisations from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean for outstanding work in promoting international cultural development. At the request of Ahmed Fouad Negm’s family, Mona Anis—a close friend of Negm’s and translator of his poems—will receive the Principal Prince Claus Award on his behalf. Mona Anis translated the collection of poems titled I Say My Words Out Loud, which the Prince Claus Fund will release on the occasion of the Prince Claus Awards Ceremony. Anis will recite the poem of Negm’s choosing on occasion of receiving the award.
For the first time, the ceremony can be viewed live beginning at 16:00 (GMT +1:00) via the Prince Claus Fund’s Youtube channel.
