Franchise Program Open Call

Since 2009, apexart has been hosting Franchise Exhibitions around the world. The Franchise Program addresses the boundaries of art and business.

This year marks the 9th annual Franchise Program open call; the organization has presented over 17 exhibitions in 14 different countries, each exploring an idea specific to its location. apexart gives you the opportunity to propose and produce an exhibition that takes place anywhere in the world (outside of New York City).

No prior curatorial experience is necessary–anyone can apply! 

– Proposals should be maximum 500 words, and should outline your idea, where the exhibition will take place, and why the idea and location are connected.
– All exhibitions must include the work of at least three artists.
– No images, CVs, or links will be accepted; no confirmed artist lists are required.

This year, four winners will be selected by an international jury of over 150 individuals who vote online using an anonymized crowd-sourcing voting system. Winners will receive an exhibition budget of up to 6,000 USD for travel, shipping, artist honorarium, and installation expenses, in addition to a location rental budget of up to 2,000 USD, a curatorial honorarium of 2,000 USD, and administrative support from the apexart Franchise Exhibition Council.
