Premiere of the Performance Thousand Silk Threads
Time: Thursday, October 16th at 6:30 pm
Location: YI OU LAI, Suzhou Village
Presented in collaboration with Value Retail, YI OU LAI Suzhou and Boiler Corporation.
Concurrent to its new website, Arthub will inaugurate in Suzhou the premiere of a Thousand Silk Threads, a performance produced during a one-year collaboration between international media artists, choreographers and musicians, with art direction by Davide Quadrio, Zhou Jie and Ivan Maria Vele. Presented at YI OU LAI Suzhou Village, the performance will merge dance, digital art, electronic and traditional Chinese music, and will subsequently tour internationally in 2015.
The scenario for the piece will be a remarkable 35-meter long stage, designed by set and costume designer Zhou Jie (China). The choreographies and dance flash-mobs series have been conceived by performance artist and dancer Xiao Ke (China) in collaboration with choreographer Alizia Borsari (Italy).
With digital projections by Recipient Collective (Italy) and with contributions by n+n Corsino (France), the moving screens that compose the scenography will feature a sequence of artists’ new media works. The visual experience will be flanked by a live performance by Hu Zi (China)—composer of the music for the piece—and acclaimed German ensemble, Brandt Brauer Frick.
