Panel Discussion: China and India in Context and Comparison

The discussion is a part of the Xianzai India exhibition.

Time: Thursday, July 16th, 3:30 pm
Location: Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai

Over the last several years, both China and India have been bursting with influence: producing rising artists, prolific collectors and new galleries and museums. In this panel discussion, distinguished speakers discuss art, artistic strategies and criticality in the changing economic and political climates across Asia, as well as the countries’ historical relationship. The emphasis will be on post-traditional conditions in respective contexts, in order to locate a new kind of vocabulary for an expanding discourse within Asia.

The session is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai (MoCA Shanghai), and co-organized by Arthub.

Participating Panelists: Jitish Kallat (Visual Artist, India); Alexander Keefe (Curator, India); Tsong-zung Chang (Curator and Gallery Owner, Hong Kong); Diana Freundl (India Xianzai Curator, Shanghai)

Moderated by Defne Ayas (Director of Arthub Asia, Shanghai)
