Arthub has been collaborating for five years with artist Li Mu on his ongoing Qiuzhuang Project. The artist has recently completed a four-part documentary that illustrates the evolution of the project until now. For the month of September Arthub is screening Li’s video work, with one part presented each week here.

The documentary includes footage from a yearlong project Li Mu completed in his rural hometown Qiuzhuang reproducing artworks from the Van Abbemuseum’s collection with village residents. His documentary was presented for the first time in the exhibition Qiuzhuang Project, Sol LeWitt and Lu Daode at Aurora Museum in Shanghai this past June.

The video installation traveled to the Van Abbemuseum for the exhibition Li Mu – A Man, A Town, A Museum opening this month. The installation is screened alongside the artist’s book: Li Mu: Qiuzhuang Project, A Man. A Village. A Museum.

Arthub would like to congratulate Van Abbemuseum and Li Mu for the recent opening!

You can purchase Li Mu’s book on the Van Abbemuseum’s online shop here.
