J.S. Lee Memorial Fellowship Programme

The Programme was established in 2008 in memory of the late Dr. Lee Jung Sen’s lifelong promotion and contribution towards Chinese art. This annual exchange programme aims to provide professional development opportunities for curators, museum professionals and young academics in Chinese art to have Fellowship attachments at museums outside of their habitual residence.

Terms of Award
Selected Fellows will have Fellowship attachments, ranging from four to twelve months, in overseas museums. The Fellowship grant will cover round-trip airfare, accommodation and living expenses during the period of the Fellowship. (The Programme does not fund course study, dissertation research and the collection of dissertation related materials.)

Eligibility
The applicant must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines such as Chinese art history, museum management, archaeology, conservation, museum education, museology, and etc. The applicant is required to be proficient in the language of the destination country. There is no restriction regarding the nationality of the applicant.

Application Procedures

1) The applicant should contact the prospective Hosting Institution from the list of Participating Institutions to arrange Fellowship project, before submitting the application.

2) The applicant can obtain the contact information of the prospective Hosting Institution by submitting the written request to the Programme Office.

3) The applicant should submit Fellowship proposal and curriculum vitae to the prospective Hosting Institutions for their considerations.

4) An “Application Form” and “Recommendation Forms” from two referees are required for the application. The Forms can be downloaded from the Programme website here.

5) Confidential recommendations must be sent to the Programme Office directly from the referees.

6) Both hard copies of the completed “Application Form” and “Recommendation Forms” should be submitted by post to the Programme Office before the application deadline.

7) Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend interviews.
