Industry professionals are constantly challenged with the public perception and relevance of design in our lives. The value that design can add to a sustainable and innovative society is often enforced with the promotion of projects that focus on public image rather than addressing social needs. The big questions faced by all designers are “what are we designing, who are we designing for, and why are we doing it?” How can design best contribute to the needs of society, the environment and our personal lives?

The International Design Dialogue: Design – What, Why and for Whom? invites Beijing based and international designers to share their experience, and promote critical debate and discussion across cultures and disciplines to address these complex issues.

This event is organised by the Australian Embassy Beijing in conjunction with Capital M Beijing, Red Gate Gallery and i:project space. The forum is primarily organized to create a lively debate and discussion between designers from different disciplines on the current state and future of design.
