With the full travel support of Arthub, Grasstage director Zhao Chuan and his fellow performers are taking a month-long journey through the heart of Mainland China both to perform their latest productions and also hold workshops on site. Stops include Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Jinan, Nanjing and Wuhan.
The last stop will be in Beijing at Long March Space with a dedicated symposium culminating the troupe’s efforts of research, mapping and unlocking of performance energies of the Mainland.

Zhao Chuan and his fellow performers founded Grass Stage in Shanghai in 2005. Grass Stage is dedicated to the development of non-governmental theatre in China stimulating the energy of non-professional theatre people. His theatre works have been performed in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
An Arthub intelligence pariticpant of 2009, Zhao Chuan is an acclaimed writer, nd has been awarded with several international literature awards. He published novels, art reviews, and essays and created such theatre works as “Lu Xun 2008″, “Squat,” “The Madman Story,” “38 Parallel Still Play,” and “The Face of the Toilet.”
