MA, BA, is curator in The British Library’s Oriental Collections Department where she is also Exhibitions Officer. She studied Chinese at Cambridge and Peking Universities, and worked at the BBC editing the Summary of World Broadcasts. She studied Korean at London University, and in 1991 became curator of the Samsung Gallery of Korean Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She lectures widely on Korea and China and has travelled extensively in both countries.
